Yes, there are some feminists who take extreme positions, for reasons personal, political, or philosophical. Which is why I tried to make it clear in my opening sentence that I was writing about the core issue, which is equality. I am not well versed in modern feminist philosophy, or in the specialized applications related to specific cultures or historical conflicts or ethical conundrums.
I have waited to see if anyone would step up to correct me, advocating for a different position to be considered the modern mainstream of feminism.
But all the feminists who have left comments--including you--have expressed agreement with that basic point.
Anti-feminist men (and women) are quick to point to something radical or irrational as representing feminism, because if they admitted the fundamental humanity and common sense of what it really is, they would be forced to support it.
