Well reasoned and well written. It's time to lay that trope to rest.

The only point I'd quibble over is "All relationships are transactional." Many are, of course, and some people are incapable of any other kind. But I don't experience my friendships--or the loves that sometimes grow out of those friendships--as transactions.
