Try also being middle-aged and male. Maybe if I wore a tag identifying myself as a liberal Democrat, they'd check my cart (or call security), but yeah, it is embarrassing. One more reason not to shop at Wally World.

I'm glad you pay attention to these little moments of White privilege. Sometimes it takes deliberate effort to decline it, like when I get called up to be served when black or brown shoppers have been waiting longer.

But so many other times, the privilege is invisible, and many folks who look like us deny it's even a thing. Like when you get pulled over, and you don't have to worry that you might get shot.
