There's a lot of nuance I would like to have included in this essay, but I wanted to keep the length down. Tears, for instance, also have less-than-healthy uses, specifically as performative emotion. And just because the average woman is better prepared for the emotional world than is the average man, doesn't mean they all have their shit together.
