It is indeed fascinating, how they take almost nothing from the soil but nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium, and trace minerals and build themselves from air and water and sunlight.

DNA is the intelligence behind most of it. I’m agnostic (actually too poorly informed to be entitled to an opinion) with regard to the Gaia hypothesis.
