Thank you, H.K., for taking time to write this thoughtful comment. Yes, I think you may have misinterpreted my story.
I have not stopped believing, because my faith was not about believing, at least not believing in the literal truth of the Bible, the literal existence of God, or the literal ideas of heaven and hell. I studied scripture and interpretation, theology and church history. I accepted the shortcomings of the church, because I believed in the good I saw it doing. None of that has changed.
But the political situation of the world has changed. The more I studied world peace, the more I was convinced that the organized religion was the enemy of universal compassion, which is where my true religion lies.
