As a writer, I try to be an example of clear thinking while promoting my values of compassion, honesty, and justice. The Christian Church at its best supports those universal values.

But the Christian Church in my country is politically dominated by its evangelical wing, which has abandoned those values for the sake of political power and economic gain. It has become one of the worst oppressors of the poor and the marginalized. I cannot and will not ignore the evil it is doing.
