Sure do relate to this description. Having been in a successful marriage before (even though it didn't last forever), I am tempted to envy those who have found the kind of durable companionship that keeps the conversation going through the years and means no one is starved for touch.

We learn to be self-sufficient and self-reliant, and solitude has ever been a writer's friend. And yet.
