Some of these writers are simply new and clueless. Blocking of the offending comments--plus a private note if you suspect that ignorance is the issue--should suffice to educate them.

As for the others, only action from the platform will dissuade them. I mostly report them for spamming, because in most cases their comment doesn't even indicate they read my article.
