Some days I'm comfortable with the notion that the universe is self-aware, at least wherever there is intelligent life. Other days that seems a stretch.

I'm not convinced life needs a source, though philosophically I'm fine with personifying nature. Call it the Cosmic Metaphor. Just don't ask me to believe it has a personal relationship with anybody.
