Our system is flawed beyond redemption. No one needs that kind of wealth, and few of those who have it can be said to have actually earned it. Consider hedge fund managers, whose products are designed to let so-called investors avoid risking their wealth when they invest. Consider Donald Trump, who never worked an honest day in his life.

Then look at all the people who have labored all their lives and have nothing now to show for it. Small wonder they buy lotto tickets and get-rich-quick schemes.

The story you tell is so sad, so true, and so important.
