Oh, I started off believing most of it, at least the Jesus story and the notion of a god who might be listening. That fell away over the years as I continued studying, but I still saw the value in the mythos and the power of the teachings on forgiveness, loving enemies, mistrusting wealth, advocating for the powerless, etc. But the final step was not a great leap, no.
I ended up in my local UU Fellowship, which believes in the same principles as my liberal Christian friends but does not see those principles as dependent on any god, messiah, or holy book.
