Men are snowflakes. (Which is why I must acknowledge: not all men.) It's their insecurities that make them nervous around bright and witty women. Many of them need to believe their maleness makes them superior to females, and a woman in control of any situation just feels wrong to them. They're thinking, "What if she makes fun of me? Worse yet, what if I don't get the joke?"

Women aren't funny? Have they never heard of Dorothy Parker, Mae West, or Phyllis Diller? What about Lucille Ball or Carol Burnett? Gilda Radner? Tina Fey?

And Jenny Lawson's Let's Pretend This Never Happened is, hands down, the funniest memoir ever written in the English language.
