Maxed out the claps for this. I will need to respond at greater length than possible here, probably in an essay of my own.

Never heard of the series you reference, but the issue of how pain has been commodified rings true on a great many levels, from tropes of starving artists to the bullshit victim-blaming platitudes about how everything must happen for a reason.

Suffering is not our only teacher, nor the best, not by a long shot.
