Job 1 is to have a message to communicate--a point, a story, some new information, whatever. Job 2 to is to say it clearly.

Unfortunately, writing clearly on Medium doesn't impress the algorithm. Neither does offering high quality content, important to a lot of readers and backed by tons of expertise. Witness my last story, which didn't even get curated and has yet to gain 100 views.

We're a pretty superstitious flock, no question. But this particular pigeon is just trying to figure out what posture will result in being seen by enough eyes to have my careful writing (and clarity) noticed.
