It would be easier to see these messages as something other than shameless misogyny if they were presented even-handedly. That is, if men were equally admonished to make an effort to keep their bodies healthy and attractive and be respectful of the wishes of their wives.

That's not gonna happen, though, as long as the church's mission is primarily to protect the patriarchal status quo and maintain the subjugation of women.
