I'm not surprised you've gotten some pushback, but I think you're dead on with all of these. Much of the tradition of men complimenting women's appearance seems to imply that all women are contestants in a beauty contest and all men are judges.

As I see it, my opinion of someone's attractiveness is no one's business but my own. Unless I happen to be in a personal relationship with that person. "You arouse me" is the kind of compliment a lover wants to hear.

"Not like other girls" means you're more like the boys. That's only a compliment if one assumes male qualities are more desirable than female ones.

If I pay a compliment related to a woman's appearance, it will be her shoes or maybe earrings, never her body. But I'm more apt to openly admire a person's skills or her accomplishments.
