I'm not sure the distinction makes a difference. "The arrogance of the protected class" sounds a lot like another disgraced celebrity--"When you're a star they let you get away with it."
Much corruption--like much larceny--is opportunistic more than premeditated. But in Andrew's case, he returned to the trough for second and third helpings, so he loses the benefit of any possible doubt that he might be granted if it were a one-off. Then there are all the bribes.
The royal family is well advised to put all possible distance between him and them, but I'm afraid the stench will cling to all of them regardless.
