I would call this free verse rather than prose poetry, as the latter uses line breaks only to separate stanzas.

Whatever you call it, it is artfully constructed, with elegant diction, detail, and imagery. Such spare sentences--many just a word or two--evoke the character of the mythic hero beautifully, even though I never imagined him as ready to embrace death.
