I hope I never live so long that I have time enough for all the projects I want to do and skills I want to acquire. But I would like someday to open the box and inspect the drill press I bought 20 years ago.

I don't think you're overcommitting to singlehood. You're going all in on the life you have NOW instead of holding part of yourself in reserve. If a guy should come along who give you a legitimate reason to reallocate your priorities, you will. But he'll have a high bar to clear if he's going to show you a better time than you can have without him.
