I have sometimes recommended that undergrads in my composition or creative writing classes use Grammarly if they were having serious problems with language mechanics, but I would never call it editing or accept its suggestions. Long sentences have their place, as do passive voice, split infinitives, and many other constructions the grammar nazi in your writing group abhors.
