I feel your pain, having maybe more than just a touch of autism. But I think there are more forthright strategies with good chances of success.
I agree with valuing the friendship over all. A lasting friendship is pure platinum; sex without it is cheap bling. But once that friendship is solidly established, very few women are likely to take offense at being told, "You know, I'm extremely attracted to you," or "I would really love to kiss you." She may say no, but she certainly won't drop you as a friend.
