I enjoy reading, engaging, learning, and occasionally contributing to the conversation a writer has begun with a thoughtfully composed essay. That, to me, is one of the strengths of Medium.
I also appreciate the fact that no one can troll anonymously. I'll report trolls and spammers without a second thought.
The folks to whom your article is addressed, unfortunately, are the least likely to get your message. They don't read closely enough--or reflect for long enough--to realize it has anything to do with them.
They are much like the (all too common) people who are so fond of arguing that they stop listening to anyone as soon as they hear something to object to, then jump rudely in to contradict the speaker. Real conversation is punctuated by pauses, because each person takes some time to process what they heard before composing a response.
