I drive 40 minutes every couple months to stock up on 3-buck Chuck, great frozen goods, and assorted products that just aren't available at other stores. And I love the business model, wish corporate America would wake up to the concept of investing a wee bit of their mega-profits on taking care of their employees.

You omitted one of the most shocking features of how Joe sells groceries: no sales. The price is the price, and I'm convinced (because I trust them) it's a fair one to the farmers and the rest of the supply chain, plus being in most cases a good value to me as the customer, so I don't have to check the ads and wonder how I'm being manipulated.
