I don't doubt that numbers are a factor in the sociological trends, though I think they are far less significant than the changes in gender roles and expectations and the decline of marriage. But my focus isn't so much on actual incels--people who can't get dates or partners--but ones who identify that way and adopt the ideology of that group on the internet. Those, I think, are more determined by the presence of certain serious psychological issues, even though they are reacting to the larger trends around them.
