I can live without a partner, and would much rather do so than be with someone whose attitudes make life together miserable. And as a writer, I can tolerate--even enjoy--a lot of solitude.

But friends and allies are essential to the human experience. Long conversations with someone(s) who gets me and appreciates what I bring to the daily feast. A bit of touch, without which life gets so damned lonely.

I'm as done with perfect matches as I am with theists hawking perfect plans.
