I am sincerely sorry, Faye. I did not mean to bash feminists in any way, but I can see how my comment could be read that way.

What I meant, though I expressed it clumsily, was that some of the women who were (in the commenter's words) "chaste-shaming" him were probably unaware that their behavior was inconsistent with feminist ideals.

I agree completely. Women have taken the lead in freeing all of us from the oppression of stereotyped gender roles and antiquated assumptions. Men who resist feminism are on par with racists in my book. That has been my attitude for 50 years now, since I recognized that what was then called "women's liberation" was a fight for all of us.
