Having spent years married to a Punjabi woman, I believe your culture has a better handle than mine regarding family and religion, but is just as lost as we are--maybe even more so--in the area of gender roles.

Boys in India, from all I hear and read, grow up believing they are gods entitled to the best of everything. Miraculously, some of them grow up to be humble, dedicated husbands and fathers. But too many others drink, chase women, and ignore their families. Men here--what can I say? They elected Donald Trump.

Your culture at least reveres the feminine. Not just Rama, but Sita as well. Our sacred cowboy rides alone.
