Demisexual FTW. Like most humans, I believe.

I'm cishet male, but everything you've said here fits my thinking with regard to dating partners. I'd even add one more, usually associated with female thinking: I am leery of anyone who's in too much of a hurry about dating. I'd rather see if we can get along as friends, first.

I wonder sometimes if sexual insecurity is behind some men's obsession with women's looks. That is, they think they won't be able to perform with an average-looking woman. Which is ridiculous but hardly surprising, proving they understand their own sexuality as little as they do that of women.

Honestly, I think everything you've explained so eloquently here applies to most adult men as well. We need to feel safe and comfortable. We don't want to be exploited. We want to laugh and have fun. Screw the BS about Mars and Venus--we're all Earthlings and much more alike than different.
