The topic is fascinating. I imagine robotic sex being integrated with VR technology, probably with a body suit that can stimulate and move the user's body as a human partner would. It's easy to imagine that working in 2-player mode.

And if some people decided artificial sex was better than the real thing, would that necessarily be a problem? It's already happening, especially in Japan, with men marrying computer programs that can't do anything more than talk to them.

Plenty of great potential stories lurking there. I'm not even sure if they would all be classified as SciFi.
