Body Dysmorphic Disorder, the condition you describe at the beginning of your essay in which someone sees herself as fat when she is near starvation, is a frequently fatal condition that our cultural obsession with thinness encourages. I'm so glad you defeated it and gained a life-affirming perspective.

Everything you say is true. Your body--every body--is amazing and miraculous and should be nurtured, loved, and celebrated.
