As long as the US is hypnotized by capitalism, we will not have a medical or mental health system that prioritizes human needs. We have the expertise, and many caring clinicians, but the barriers to access are daunting.

Ergo, we must fall back on the older system: neighbors, friends, and family--each other. Hotlines and such can help and do help, but sometimes all that's needed is a friend.
