Another beautiful and thought-provoking essay. And for me, timely. I need regular reminders to step boldly into my tomorrows, not to let them slip away while I tread the safer paths based on some illusion of security, even though I know I'm not where I belong.

Since my heart attack last fall, I've changed my habits and lost 40 pounds. My doc was full of compliments on Monday, but I still spent Tuesday in the ER with a kidney stone. The lesson? Aging bodies have adventures, sometimes painful ones, no matter how careful we may be to do the right things. And my time, as you point out, is limited.

So I must ask myself: if I were a braver man, where would I be now?
