A lot of good advice here. I would think nearly anyone who goes out with you would come away feeling like the evening was well spent.

I would add, don't tell jokes. A bit of wit is definitely a winning quality--we all enjoy the company of people who can make us laugh--but don't trot out your memorized routine. It makes it look like you're trying too hard to impress instead of being genuine.

The other thing a lot of people miss is that a date can be successful even if it doesn't lead to a sustained relationship. It's a piece of your life, an evening you won't get back, so stop worrying about the future and enjoy the present of this person's company.
