A common error, indeed. But not mine.
Even when I identified as Christian, believing was never a big part of my religious experience. As a psychologist, I understood that beliefs are just opinions that a person feels emotionally invested in. I believed in sowing peace and seeking justice and being part of a loving community, so that's how I tried to live.
The parts of the Christian establishment that are enemies of peace are the churches that insist that everyone must believe what they believe. That, to me, is insanity and abomination.
